- Consumers spend between $4 and $6 billion dollars annually on visits to massage therapists (Eisenberg, et al, Journal of the American Medical Association, 1998).
- Massage is becoming increasingly popular among consumers over 45, as well as consumers in the 25 to 34 year age group (Pressing The Flesh,1998).
- The number of massage therapists is noted to be between 160,000 and 220,000, including students (American Massage Therapy Association, January 1999).
