» Feature Writer Joni Rose - Hi there,

Hi there,

I chose "other" on your poll because I either have a hot bath with epsom salts and essential oils or lie on the couch or bed with a hot water bottle.

Of course I'd REALLY prefer a massage!!!

» glimmer10 - Hi there,

I chose "other" because the thought makes me nervous. I think many people worry about massage etiquette--like what if I disrobe at the wrong time or something?

Thanks for your feedback. I just wanted to tell you that you are not alone. Most people are nervous before having a massage. But just so you know, massage therapists are trained to help you relax and to make you feel more comfortable about the whole idea of having a massage.

Massage therapists actually massage each other at massage school, so they too have to go through the same experience of being uncomfortable. My suggestion is to first try a type of massage or bodywork that won't require you to disrobe like reflexology or acupressure. It's a really good way to get more comfortable with it all. Hope this helps.

You might want to check out this article for more information about what to expect before a massage.
